Supportive Member Meetups

Almost every month, we get together as a community of kids, adults, parents, and significant others impacted in some way by diabetes. We’re most known for our popular annual empowerment events known as Diabetes Ninja Night, Paint Night, our weekend retreat, and the Dia-Elf Project! Diabetes is tough, we might as well find the fun we can in it. Events are completely free to our members and monthly membership is whatever you can afford! We’re here for you. :)

Kids & Adults Dance & Sports

Build self-confidence, coordination skills, stress relief, emotional regulation, and support through ongoing weekly dance classes and seasonal sport lessons! We have low snacks available at all times, a diabetes-inclusive environment, and special member outings/performances. All children and adults, diabetic or not, are welcome to participate. A sliding scale rate is available for our members facing financial hardship, to help make diabetes just a little easier to live with.

Type Zero’s Mentorship Program

  • We’ve launched our pilot program designed to empower mentor and mentee pairs to lead healthy lifestyles while confidently managing everyday life with diabetes. We are currently enrolling teens with type 1 diabetes into the program and will open up accessibility to adults, T2Ds, and others as soon as we can.

Teens develop goals that make sense for them and participate in fun confidence-boosting monthly activities with their mentors. Each teen will have support from their mentor and their doctor throughout their program!

  • Teens with type 1 diabetes can apply using the link below. No need to have a certain amount of greatness or struggle, just a desire to find success with diabetes. Parents and teens will be notified by email within 48 hours if they’ve been accepted into the program:

    Mentee Application

  • We are looking for adults 18+ to help the next generation of T1Ds stand tall and proud with diabetes! Mentors must have personal experience managing diabetes and must manage theirs well most of the time. We have specific criteria developed by our in-house licensed dietitian that are used to determine eligibility. Mentors receive credible volunteer hours if desired.

Volunteer, Intern, or Become a Board Member

Our organization is volunteer-lead from age 13 to age 83! Help us plan our educational support events, acquire the necessary resources to change more lives, or anything else you’ve thought of that can help our diabetes community. We appreciate our leaders and everything we do is because of them!
